I don't see any Lee's Summit schools on this list.

Other selected schools were:

  • Lindbergh Senior High School, St. Louis
  • Center Senior High School, Kansas City
  • Crane High School, Crane
  • Park Hill South High School, Kansas City
  • Lawson High School, Lawson
  • Valley Park Senior High School, Valley Park

“These eight high schools are noteworthy examples of excellence in education across the state of Missouri,” said Commissioner of Education Chris L. Nicastro. “

We Need Your Help

SB595 wasn’t heard in the rules committee this week.  We need to start a campaign to move the bill forward.  Please contact your representatives, the House Speaker, the Floor Leader, and the Rules Chair.  Ask them to move the bill forward so that it can be heard on the floor.  I would include any story that is relevant of how this bill will affect your child and others in Missouri.

I have posted the email addresses for the House Speaker, the Floor Leader, and the Rules Chair.  If you need help finding the email address for your Representative let me know.

Thanks for you help.

If the tax hike is approved, Columbia would rank fourth for highest tax levy ceilings among 12 other Missouri districts of comparable size. Only rates in the Hazelwood, Lee's Summit and Blue Springs districts — with ceilings of $5.34, $5.21 and $5.13 per $100 of assessed valuation, respectively — are higher, according to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Ceilings in other districts in Boone County are all lower than the Columbia rate, with the next-highest rates in Southern Boone County and Sturgeon, both around $3.72. Jefferson City has a $3.76 ceiling.
