Voters asked to give more to schools | The Columbia Daily Tribune - Columbia, Missouri

If the tax hike is approved, Columbia would rank fourth for highest tax levy ceilings among 12 other Missouri districts of comparable size. Only rates in the Hazelwood, Lee's Summit and Blue Springs districts — with ceilings of $5.34, $5.21 and $5.13 per $100 of assessed valuation, respectively — are higher, according to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Ceilings in other districts in Boone County are all lower than the Columbia rate, with the next-highest rates in Southern Boone County and Sturgeon, both around $3.72. Jefferson City has a $3.76 ceiling.
